How can a restaurant stop missing Christmas party bookings?
Short answer: reply the moment the organiser gets in touch, on whatever channel they used, at whatever hour. December tables are chosen in the summer, and a group of twenty goes to the restaurant that comes back first with a date, a menu and a way to pay the deposit. An AI agent answers every call, email, chat and message straight away, quotes your festive menu from your own record, holds the date against live availability and takes the deposit. The pre-order and the dietary detail land in one place your kitchen can read before service.
When do restaurants get their Christmas party enquiries?
Earlier than most kitchens plan for. The private dining room and the long table for twenty are chosen months before December, and the messages start landing while the terrace is still full. That is the timetable the people booking them work to: a UK corporate events guide published in July 2026 tells companies arranging a December party to start looking no later than June or July, because the good dates go first.

So the tables that fill your December are being chosen while you are still doing summer covers.
A festive table is not one question, it is a pile of admin
A booking for twenty in December arrives in pieces, over weeks. Is the room free on the 12th. Can we see the festive menu. How much is the deposit and how do we pay it. Four of us are vegetarian and one is coeliac. Can we push it to twenty-four. When do you need final numbers and the pre-order sheet.
Each piece lands on a different day, often on a different channel, and nearly always while your team is mid-service. Miss one and the organiser starts chasing somebody else. Miss the pre-order deadline and your kitchen is guessing on a December Saturday, the one service where guessing costs the most.
Why do restaurants lose festive bookings?
Rarely on price. Almost always on how long the organiser was left waiting. They are booking on behalf of a group, their own inbox is under pressure, so they message three or four restaurants at once and go with the first clear reply. Meanwhile your phone rings at half past seven with a full room and two sittings still to turn. Nobody can step off the floor to talk through a set menu, so it goes to voicemail, and a table that would have turned twice is gone by morning.
The usual ways restaurants cover this, compared
Every restaurant has some answer to this already. Here is how the common ones hold up.
| Approach | Replies during service | Late at night and on days off | Quotes the festive menu | What it costs you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ring them back after service | No, hours later | No | Yes, once you get to it | The organiser has usually booked by then |
| Voicemail and an inbox checked on Monday | No | No | No | A weekend of party enquiries goes cold |
| A message-taking service | Takes a name and number | Sometimes | No | No menu, no date held, no deposit, no booking |
| An AI agent (Sorino) | Yes, the moment it lands | Yes | Yes, from your own menu and prices | Sensitive ones go to a person |
The first three all depend on somebody being free. Sorino replies on whichever channel the organiser used, quotes the festive menu from your own record, holds the date against live availability and takes the deposit while they are still interested.
What we will not do with your December
Something answering for your highest-value bookings of the year has to be trustworthy, so there are lines we hold.
It will not guess on a dietary question. Allergen and dietary answers come from your own written, checked record, or the guest goes straight to a person. A set menu for thirty with four special requirements is the worst possible place to guess.
It will not pass itself off as one of your team, and it will not push on alone. Anything unusual or sensitive goes to a person with the whole conversation attached, so nothing gets lost between shifts.
It will not replace your front of house. It covers the phone and the inbox while your people are on the floor, and writes down every detail the kitchen needs later. Cover, not replacement.
Frequently asked
When do Christmas party enquiries start arriving for restaurants? From the summer. UK corporate events guidance published in July 2026 tells companies to book a December party by June or July, and the enquiries follow that timing.
Can it quote our festive set menu and take the deposit? Yes. It answers from your own menu and prices, holds the date against live availability and takes the deposit on the spot, on phone, email, chat or social.
What happens with dietary requirements on a set menu? They are answered from your written, checked record, or the guest is handed to a person. It never guesses, and the detail is written down for the kitchen.
How long before December do we need to start? About six weeks. The first weeks load your festive menus, prices and availability and set the rules for when to hand over to a person. Then voice and chat go live and get tuned, then email and social are added. Since the enquiries arrive in summer, that clock starts now.
